Laser Hair Removal

We use genuine laser technology rather than less effective IPL Laser hair removal. It is an excellent choice of treatment if you are looking for a better solution to constantly shaving, waxing, plucking or threading. Laser hair removal offers a long term and often permanent answer. Waxing treatments and shavers can be an expensive ongoing cost with Laser hair removal now being more affordable than you realise. We price each area individually and we also offer a discount for combining areas. We have the latest laser technology and can now treat a even wider range of skin and hair combinations.

Consultation Procedure
Prior to treatment, a free consultation is carried out in which a medical history is taken to confirm suitability for treatment, there is also an opportunity for any questions you may have to be answered. Before treatment commences you will be asked to give informed consent and a small test patch will be carried out at least 24 hours prior to your first session. How does Laser hair removal work?
Laser light is selectively absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the hair follicle. The light energy heats the pigment and effectively destroys the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding cells.

How is treatment carried out?
The Laser light is aimed at the body area to be treated and a short pulse of light is released, which targets many follicles simultaneously. The Laser is then moved to the neighbouring area of skin and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. We use Cryo cooling technology before, during and after the procedure to reduce any discomfort.

Am I suitable for treatment?
Most people are suitable for treatment. Best results are often achieved with clients who have fair skin and thick, dark hair. Fair hair however, contains less melanin and is harder to treat. Grey/White hair has no melanin so is not suitable for treatment.

How does the treatment feel?
Treatment sensation varies but is often described as ‘warm and prickly’. Typically no anaesthetic is required and most clients describe the discomfort as mild and tolerable. It is generally considered to be less painful than waxing.

What will I see after the treatment?
The hair follicles are damaged by heat but the hair bulbs remain in the follicles. The dead hairs will shed after 1-3 weeks as the epidermis renews. During this period the hairs will seem to ‘grow’ as they are pushed out by the new epidermis but then rub away from the skin. This will be followed by a hair free period of several weeks before the hairs in the next hair growth phase start to grow through again. By this time, you will be ready for the next treatment.

Are there any side effects?
The skin may be red immediately after treatment and the hair follicle may be swollen and bumpy but this usually subsides within a few hours. Adverse reactions are rare but may include a small blister or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin. We will carry out a test patch at least 24 hours prior to your first session to ensure the correct energy level has been chosen for your skin and hair type.

How many treatments are necessary?
Only hair that is actively growing is affected during each session, therefore multiple treatments are needed. Treatment is carried out every 4-8 weeks, depending on the area treated, until the desired result is achieved. The required number of treatments varies but typically 6 or more treatments are needed for optimum results with maintenance sessions as required.

How long does each treatment take?
Treatments can take as little as 5 minutes for an upper lip to an hour or more for larger body areas.
